Afshar Rugs

Afshar rugs are handwoven by the nomadic Afshari tribes of southern Iran. They usually incorporate a central medallion, a geometric diamond shape, in an open field enclosed within a border. This is often an ivory-colored field. Afshars are frequently mistaken for Shiraz, even in the trade, as they are quite similar in appearance.
